Make a Difference Locally By Donating Used Books to VNSA!
A very dear friend of mine is very involved in this huge book fundraising effort for Phoenix. They need your support to get the word out and to go to the event. Spread the word for this great cause! They really need more book donations for this year.
Your gently used books, paperbacks, videos, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, books on tape or CD, and other book-related items can make a difference locally by being donated to VNSA – Volunteer Nonprofit Service Association, Inc., a local, all-volunteer nonprofit corporation. VNSA’s 100% volunteer membership works diligently all year collecting and organizing used books that have been donated by individuals, businesses, and groups in the Valley for its Annual Used Book Sale, and so far this year donations are below that of previous years.
Tax deductible donations of books can be made at the VNSA book collection boxes (look for cream colored boxes with white or golden signs featuring the VNSA owl drawn by Bil Keane) located in shopping areas around the Valley. Home or business pickups can be arranged by calling VNSA at 602-265-6805. More information, including specific drop box locations, is available at the VNSA website: www.vnsabooksale.org.
The proceeds of the book sale remain in Maricopa County, benefitting Valley nonprofit agencies that serve families and children in need. From the proceeds of the 2009 Book Sale, over $335,000 is being donated to Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation, Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County, and Toby House, Inc. Since 1987, VNSA has contributed over $5.1 million to community agencies and has returned more than $6 million to the community since the first sale in 1957.
The 54th Annual VNSA Used Book Sale is scheduled for February 13 and 14, 2010 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds.
